I want to start a new series here about evolution of a franchise over time. As you know I am a huge Metal Gear fan. So let’s start with the most obvious evolution of the game, the graphics. I hope you enjoy!
Solid Snake has gone through a huge range of graphical changes, starting with the sereis start of Metal Gear for the MSX2 from 1987. Of the 5 games he was present in, Solid Snake was protagonist of 4 of them, he was more of a major side character in MGS2.
Naked Snake/ Big Boss has appeared in 6 Metal Gear games. He was the main protagonist of 3 of these games, villain in 2, and a major side character in 1, I assure you the math is correct. There is a spoiler in the calculations if you know what I mean. He appeared along side Solid Snake in the original Metal Gear to be parody of Sean Connery.
Revolver / Liquid Ocelot is the only character that was in all major numbered Solid games, debuting in Metal Gear Solid as gun slinging triple double agent. He has made total of 5 appearances, most recently rendered in the Fox Engine.
Hal Emmerich aka Otacon has appeared in 3 games, and since his number is limited and they look practically the same, I included Huey Emmerich here as well. For those of you who don’t know, Huey is Hal’s father. Huey has been in 2 games, debuting in PSP’s Peace Walker.
