Evolution of the Witcher: Graphics

I have been really into the Witcher these days if you could’t tell. So let’s start with the most obvious evolution of the game, the graphics.

-Geralt of Rivia-

Looking at the images below, Geralt of the Witcher 1 seem…. like a ghoul. He is a lot skinnier and pale compared to his later day portrayals. Seeing how the third game introduced me to Geralt first, getting used to the skinny Geralt took me some time.

-Triss Merigold-

Going from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 did Triss a lot of good. In the original I had no idea what the hell she was wearing, looked very similar to what hookers wore in the game actually. And sharing similar character models withe some hookers does not really help either. But from second game on, she became a lot classier, as she was portrayed in the games, and did not look like hookers. Triss from the third game looked and felt more innocent compared to her earlier versions, it may be due to her social standings and how they changed throughout the series.

-Zoltan Chivay-

My favorite dwarf ever! In the first game, he kind of looked like a monster that was pretending to be a dwarf, but now he looks genuine. In the second game, he looked fantastic, and it was great. In the third game, he looked even more realistic, but looked older naturally.

Design wise, Dandelion probably changed the most throughout the series. With every game, he gain a bit more facial hair and a lot more luxurious outfit.

Vesemir was absent from the entirety of the second game, so these are from the Witcher 1 and the Witcher 3. Ah, good old Vesemir.

-King of the Wild Hunt-

Eredin makes his first appearance in the game series in the very first game, well sort of, as a specter that haunts Geralt. In the second game, while not present in the story, he is shown in flashbacks with very animated style. In the third game he makes his true appearance in his skeletal armor.

The newest appearance that I could tell is actually Shani, one of Geralt’s romantic choices in the original Witcher game.
